Celebration Banner
Many thanks to Jean Kirk who has created a beautiful banner celebrating the 10th anniversary of the school. Thank you also to her sister for all her expertise and help. The banner shows words and images which are significant to the school and it has been a tremendous success with visitors, parents, staff and pupils.

Secondary P.E uniform 2009/2010
As announced at our summer prizegiving, from August there will be a regulation P.E uniform for the secondary department. This will replace the general guidelines currently in place. The children were consulted following the prizegiving and voted on their preferred choice of jogging trousers. You can see the results in the picture above. These are plain blue and have zips on each leg. They are available from our uniform stockist, Smiths of Greenock. Tops are either a blue or white school polo shirt.
We look forward to seeing you all after the holidays.
Thanks
At the end of a very successful year at Cedars School, all the staff would like to thank all the parents for their support over the year.
Also thank you very much for all the gifts and cards which so many of you have generously given us.
We hope you all enjoy a relaxing summer holiday and look forward to seeing you all refreshed in the new session.
Sports Day
10th Anniversary Celebrations
We began our 10th Anniversary Celebrations on Sunday 21st June with a special service in Struthers Memorial Church. This was a lovely occasion - thanks to all who supported it.

We continued our celebrations with a concert in Greenock Town Hall on Monday 22nd June. This was a superb success and everyone really enjoyed it. There was a wide variety of items which included both choir and solo pieces, a Macbeth drama, a sign language song, a visit from the 'Silly Pirates', a few hurricanes blowing in, the one and only performance of the school samba band, some scottish country dancing, a fashion show, comedy skit and P1/2 performing the Wobble Song.
The children who took part were a credit to the school and were excellent in their effort, performance and behaviour - well done to everyone who took part!
Thank you also to everyone who supported the evening and also to parents who worked hard to get the children there on time and in the correct uniform.

Paris 2009
Today we return to school after a very successful residential week in Paris. Children from P5-S2 travelled to France and spent a week in the French capital, taking in sights like the Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysees, Stade de France, Design Houses and Disneyland Paris.
The weather was unfortunately not the best but we still had a great time. The children learned a lot about French culture, transport, history and practiced their French speaking. We had numerous compliments from members of the public on the behaviour and courtesy of the children and we are very proud of them all.
All in all it was an excellent trip.

Pizza perfection!
P1-4 had great fun making their own lunch today. After rolling out dough and piling on their favourite toppings they gave them to Mr Parkinson (Courtney's dad) to bake. The results were delicious.

A big thank you to Mr Parkinson from Heather's Deli for the time and effort he put in today.
Thanks also to Miss Boyle for helping out this week.

Exams, exams, exams...
With only 3 exams left to go, study leave is drawing to a close for S3/4 and S5. All the exams seem to have gone smoothly in terms of organisation - for this we thank Dr Rankin and Mr Creighton as well as our invigilators- Jean Brooks, Graham McKenzie Smith and Ian Lundie. Thanks also to all the primary staff and pupils for being so quiet during the exam times.
Although S5 will be able to reap the rewards of all their studying and enjoy a care free summer without the thought of returning to school, S3/4 will be working hard again next week as some of them embark upon work experience placements. After that they will return to school for the last few weeks of term.
