After school clubs

The iPad art club is going well and pupils are creating some super artwork. Everyone is very focused:

David completed this Danbo painting today:

And Cameron finished painting a Christmas scene:

BC drama

We were working on communication skills, team work and trust in drama today. This was the knot game where pupils had to work together to unravel themselves. The challenge was that they had to do it without speaking...

It's beginning to smell a lot like Christmas!

We are making chocolate logs in this week's BC...

Dramatic conventions

Today in drama pupils were introduced to 2 new dramatic conventions to help them in character development work. First was 'Role on the Wall' where pupils use a simple drawing as guide in order to flesh out physical attributes and situation, and personality / attitudes of each character:

Then we looked at 'Hot seating' - 3 volunteers took on the character of the roles we had created and were interviewed by the rest of the class. They had to answer and act in the agreed role at all times:

Yum!

Thanks so much to Nicol's mum for making some delicious biscuits for the staff today, it was really kind and they made a very cold, wet day go past more cheerily!

Online Awareness

Elaine MacDonald, Human Resources Advisor for the NHS, spoke at Senior Assembly this morning. Elaine brought her experiences in HR in relation to online bullying and personal reputation. Elaine gave examples of the consequences in the work place of inappropriate Internet behaviour.

We take e-safety and Internet education very seriously and we are very fortunate to have links with business and public services in the area who can inform our young people about current issues.

P3/4 working hard

P3/4 are working very hard this morning, and looking forward to having Mr Atkinson back soon!

They have practised their atlas skills and learnt about Roman roads. They can all tell you why they were built and the four Latin names for the layers.

Here they are, answering questions to check their understanding:
