Co-Operative Learning 1

This term, on Friday afternoons, P2-7 are joining together for some co-operative learning afternoons. Each of the afternoons will involve the children in taking various roles within groups, learning to respect and value each other's ideas and opinions and also participate on some important activities based on health and wellbeing.
Day 1 was based on making healthy sandwiches and was a great success.
After and initial 'getting to know you' ice breaker the children formed their groups for the later activities. Each child was given a sticker with the name of a healthy filling for a sandwich. They then had to make a group comprising all the available fillings. This was glorious mayhem for 5 minutes as we all found our groups but quickly settled into some great work. Each group made a healthy sandwich, displayed it for the 'judges' and came up with a fantastic name to advertise their sandwich. Examples included; the 'Valhalla Salad', and the 'Leaning Tower Sandwich'. Great fun was had by all!
Here are some photos of the afternoon.
