They told us about the country of Rwanda...

And explained how difficult it is for children in some areas to get to school. Often this is because children are orphaned as a result of the genocide.

Sarah met Douglas in Rwanda when she went to teach out there. Douglas worked with street children, feeding and training them in a trade- a similar programme that he himself went through.

Sarah and Douglas recognised that many children need sponsorship to be able to attend school. They have set up Aid for Education to sponsor as many as they can.
They told us about some of the children they are helping:

Aid for Education helps by:
- sponsoring children to go to school
- buying school materials for children
- buying uniforms so that children don't have to share
- buying goats for families, encouraging enterprise and financial responsibility. This also enable families to make money, using manure to sell as fertiliser, or by breeding goats to sell. This in turn enables then to send children to school.
- giving medical cards to families who cannot afford medical insurance.

All money goes directly to the community and the charities local worker prioritises spending.
The charity has also built three houses, helping those who lived only in a mud hut.
The school council is going to come up with some ways to raise money for the wonderful work that Aid for Education does.
We are very grateful to Sarah a d Douglas for coming in to talk to us.
